  Elsie was in an orphanage for two years when her parents died. The story is that there was a possibility of her being sent to wealthy relatives in the Eastern States but it never happened. After that she was brought up by her sister Ruby and her husband. She ran away from home on the day Alan Pearson was born, 15 Dec 1931. She was always known as 'Bobbie'. If you look at the Saxby clan in NSW, it is possible to see that there was a childless couple who had no children but they died before getting Elsie.
