• Notes

Benjamin Hallowell Boxer changed his name to Alston-Stewart on his second marriage. This was so that he could inherit his wife's fortune. His mother disowned him in her will. Frances and Benjamin divorced in 1865 on the grounds of his adultery with Isabella Moffat who had been a governess in his family.
